Wild Escape Sculpture Trail

Introduction

A sculpture trail introducing four riverside species – Bat, Kingfisher, Seal and Ladybird in our School's Art Exhibition: The Wild Escape. Taking place ahead of London Rivers Week, the artistic outputs have been produced using inspiration from the local environment, displaying different four different creatures you can find around Cody Dock and the Lower River Lea Valley.

Contributed by pupils iron local primary schools (Southern Road; Maryland: and Elmhurst Primary) in collaboration with Matt Ponting a resident illustrator and artist at Cody Dock.

Process

Each sculpture was made by reusing on-site scrap metal, before paper mâché was applied, then hand painted and finally the children's’ artwork was decoupaged, before site specific installation. Words form the school mindmaps produced were interspersed with the illustrations, to give the children's impression of each creature.
