About Matt

Newham-based Conversationist and Community Artist Matt Ponting uses art to make green spaces and urban environments accessible for all, and his artwork is centred on local discovery and exploration, of nature, heritage and community. As well as transforming East Ham Nature Reserve with hand painted murals and welcoming colourful signs, he recently illustrated a set of signs along the Greenway, in partnership with nature trusts, local schools and residents, and created the public artwork for the Newham Covid Memorial Garden.

He has exhibited sculptures in Cody Dock and created an exhibition of illustrated landmarks in The Royal Docks along with accompanying walking tour, created maps for Chrisp Street Market and the DLR and created large-scale murals showing landmarks of Canada Water and Stratford.
